My first ever photo of a northern parula, June 8, 2020. It's also the first parula I've seen here in several years -- and maybe the first male ever.
The holler's first great spangled fritillary of 2020, June 8th!
And the first photos this morning, my first tufted titmouse fledglings, and the first time I've seen a titmouse fledgling being fed:
After it got a seed from the parent, it flew down to my car and ate seeds other birds had dropped:
A different fledgling learned about bird feeders:
I think the fledgling titmice are from the nest to the south of the house. Two other titmice parents came to the feeder and flew off to the north at frequent intervals while I was watching these young ones, whose parents stayed close to them.
I'm still waiting for the first bird to use the new bird bath, and the first butterfly to try out the new puddling station I set up for them yesterday. I thought the fritillary was going to check it out, but it went for a pile of soil that I had cleared away from the planters instead.
